Patrick Cote returns from a year-and-a-half long layoff following the knee injury he sustained against Anderson Silva at UFC 90 on May 8 at UFC 113. He’ll take on Alan Belcher.
UFC 113 was already shaping up to be huge with Lyoto Machida vs. Shogun Rua II and Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans (tentatively) co-headlining, and now it’s getting even bigger.
There’s one surefire way to get people talking about you in this business. Make outlandish claims like you’re “one of the best fighters to ever fight” when you haven’t proved you are, and you’re the one person with the style to beat Anderson Silva standing when Denis Kang and Yoshihiro Akiyama gave you problems there. The funny thing is this approach often gets you the big fights you’re looking for, so I guess I can’t blame Alan Belcher for making them. Of course, you also run the risk of looking like a fool — in this case a giant fool — if you don’t back it up, so Belcher better make the most out of every fight from here on out.
Fanhouse has clips of BJ Penn and Frank Mir from the post-fight press conference. Ariel Helwani caught up with Dana White, Kenny Florian, Jon Fitch, Stefan Struve, Alan Belcher and Matt Wiman following the event. Even if you don’t watch them all, you might want to check out the Belcher interview. He says he’s “one of the best fighters to ever fight.” Also, Mike Straka of Fox Fight Game made the rounds.
Fanhouse’s Ariel Helwani catches up with BJ Penn, Diego Sanchez, Frank Mir, Cheick Kongo, Kenny Florian, Clay Guida and Alan Belcher on the UFC 107 media day.
The NSAC has released the fighter payouts for UFC 100. Keep in mind, these figures represent the base contracted pay the fighter receives from the promotion. These figures do not include any additional “locker room” bonuses, pay-per-view revenue sharing, or sponsorship money, which in many cases exceeds a fighter’s base pay. These numbers also do not account for taxes, insurance, and license fees.
UFC 100 took place earlier this evening at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In the night’s main event, Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir met to unify the UFC heavyweight titles.
In the co-main event, Georges St. Pierre defended his UFC Welterweight Championship against Thiago Alves.
TUF 9 coaches Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson fought for a possible shot at the UFC middleweight title.
Alan Belcher welcomed overseas superstar Yoshihiro Akiyama to the UFC in a middleweight clash.
Jon Fitch faced off against Paulo Thiago in a welterweight scrap.
