UFC 106 ‘Ortiz vs Griffin 2′ Pre-Fight Interviews: Marcus Davis & Ben Saunders

Marcus Davis and Ben Saunder meet in a welterweight match-up on the Spike TV portion of the UFC 106 card this Saturday, Nov. 21, at 9PM.

Spike To Air Davis-Saunders & Grove-Rosholt UFC 106 Prelims

Spike TV logoOnce again, Spike TV will air at least two preliminary fights as a lead-in to the UFC 106 pay-per-view broadcast.

Spike TV will telecast live undercard bouts from UFC 106 on Saturday, November 21 at 9:00pm ET/PT from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. The fights on Spike TV will include “The Ultimate Fighter 3” victor Kendall Grove battling Jake Rosholt and “The Ultimate Fighter 6” contestant Ben Saunders facing “The Irish Hand Grenade,” Marcus Davis. The one-hour telecast will run commercial-free. UFC 106 will air on pay-per-view at 10:00pm ET.

This continues a very welcomed trend the UFC started with UFC 103 in attempt to persuade fans to purchase the UFC card over the Mayweather-Marquez fight. Boxing clearly won the battle that night, but the UFC and Spike must have found it beneficial nonetheless because this marks the third time Spike is broadcasting a portion of the prelims.

Get Ready For A Rematch

Marcus Davis vs Dan Hardy at UFC 99Dan Hardy and Marcus Davis’ war of words elevated their fight from a solid welterweight bout into a full-blown grudge match.

Davis Says He Won The Fight, Is The Feud Over?

Marcus Davis & Dan Hardy Staredown at UFC 99 Weigh-Ins

“We went back and forth on the stand-up, He dropped me with a knee, I think, but I knocked him down with a hook. I also scored more takedowns, more submission attempts and outpowered him the whole fight…He came into my dressing room to talk after and I said I won. He said it was close. And he wouldn’t argue. That took something. I guess he’s not apologized for going too far with the talking. I won the fight.”

—Marcus Davis explaining why he thinks he won the fight against Dan Hardy yesterday at UFC 99.

Davis and Hardy shook hands in the locker room afterwards, but it doesn’t sound like this feud is over as far as Marcus is concerned. It was a close fight, and I don’t know if the UFC will do it anytime soon, but don’t be surprised if Marcus makes it his personal mission to get a rematch booked as soon as possible.

UFC 99 Pre-Fight Interviews: Marcus Davis & Dan Hardy

Marcus Davis and Dan Hardy face off in a grudge match tomorrow, June 13 in Germany at UFC 99.

UFC 99 In-Depth Preview: Marcus Davis vs Dan Hardy

In case you haven’t noticed, UFC 99 coming up this weekend is a pretty badass card. Seriously, check it out. Six guaranteed fights, and every one of them should be good.

Marcus Davis: ‘I Hate Dan Hardy’

Marcus Davis

Remember when I said the war of words between Marcus Davis and Dan Hardy was about to really heat up again?

Well, here you go.

“Hate” is a very powerful word, I know. It gets thrown around a lot when people don’t really mean it, like “Aw, I hate mustard!” or “Aw, I hate this song”. But I hate my opponent at UFC 99.

I hate Dan Hardy.

I really can’t stand this guy and I am counting down to days to June 13, to the Lanxess Arena in when I can smash this kid in the mouth. I want to punch holes in this guy’s face. Hardy has gone so far beyond what is professional. This is more than another fight in the UFC for me, more than getting a win and working towards getting a title shot. This is war.

Marcus didn’t stop there either. He has another 900 words of why he hates Hardy so much tacked onto that. And that’s only part one!

I think it’s safe to say there’s going to be some serious leather being thrown in this fight.

Hardy On Davis: ‘This Is Not An Act’

The feud between Dan Hardy and Marcus Davis may have died down in recent months, but with UFC 99 rapidly approaching, expect the war of words to heat back up. Case in point, Hardy’s statements about Davis in a recent interview with WKR.

This is not an act, I called him out on a few things and touched a couple of nerves and now he wont stop whining. I met him before and he seemed like a decent guy, I don’t need any more friends though, I need opponents. I don’t like the fact that he thinks he has some kind of hold over the U.K. I’ll keep poking fun at him to make sure he is training hard, then when I beat him down, he will have no excuses…Not at all, this isn’t boxing and if he was that good as a boxer, he would still be doing it. I think he is underestimating the damage I can do to him. We will see in the fight how long he wants to box for.

With the anticipation of Silva-Franklin, the shake-up of opponents for Cain Velasquez, and the return of Mirko Cro Cop, I honestly forgot about this match-up at UFC 99. Should be a good fight and an awesome card, especially for an overseas event.

Props to AllElbows.com for once again producing an awesome training/preview video

Dan Hardy: Davis Is Trying To Convince Himself He Can Win

Dan Hardy

Well, his boxing is a strong area of his game but he seems to be having more success with the grappling side of the sport in his last few fights. I wouldn’t say he has any weaknesses in particular, just that I am either as good or better in every range. I’m also younger, faster and better looking!

At about the 60 second mark, he will realize that I have every range covered and the fight is going too fast for him to keep up with. After that, it’s only a matter of time before my hand is raised. He can say what he likes about me, I get the feeling that he is trying to convince himself he can win. If that’s what he needs to do to give me a good fight, then so be it. This fight was asked for by the fans and I’m just happy to be able to give them what they want.

–Dan Hardy, responding to Marcus Davis’ “pound his face into dust” proclamation, in an interview with TheMMAFiend.

Hardy and Davis are scheduled to settle their differences on neutral ground in Germany at UFC 99.
