Sam Caplan of Five Oz. published a report earlier today convering the latest additions and possible subtractions to the EliteXC/Showtime Nov. 8 fight card.

Apparently, EliteXC will announce the highly rumored vacant lightweight title fight between Nick Diaz and Eddie Alvarez tonight on CBS. Here’s a quick rundown of the rest.

  • The event will be held in Reno, Nevada
  • Robbie Lawler vs. Joey Villasenor II will headline

Kaitlin Young gives a little insight into the stoppage that ended the fight between her and Gina Carano at EliteXC ‘Primetime’ on CBS last Saturday night. It was believed that the doctor had stopped the fight, however according to Kaitlin, she was cleared by the doctor to continue:

My left cheek and area surrounding the eye are looking pretty ugly today, but there was no major damage. Though it may have looked like it on tv, I never actually had an open wound.

EliteXC ‘Primetime’ Results, Wrap-Up, Post-Fight Press Conference Scuffle Between Kimbo & Brett Rogers

EliteXC: Primetime PosterMixed martial arts made its primetime network television debut on CBS tonight with EliteXC ‘Primetime.’ It was a historical night that had its shining moments, yet I’m highly disappointed in most of what I saw.

The Results

  • Kimbo Slice defeats James Thompson via TKO (Strikes) in Round Three
  • Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith ruled No Contest (Doctor Stoppage - Inadvertent Thumb to the Eye) in Round Three

What’s All The Kaitlin Young Fuss About?

If you’re wondering why many writers in the MMA blogosphere, including myself, are picking Kaitlin Young to upset Gina Carano, here’s why. This girl is no joke. She would knock you silly.

All fights in the video are from the same night.

Keep in mind though that Gina is a better striker than Young’s opposition in this video, at least to my knowledge, so I don’t think Young’s going to just come out and destroy Gina a minute into the first round. But, as the fight goes on and Gina’s conditioning starts to wane, it should leave some openings for Kaitlin to capitalize on.

It’s going to be an exciting fight.

Kaitlin Young Comments On Gina Carano Not Making Weight

The “agreement” that Kaitlin wouldn’t disclose on camera was a 12.5% forfeiture of Gina Carano’s purse to her for missing the 141lbs weight limit. I’m sure 12.5% of whatever Gina is making for this fight is pretty damn good.

Proof Gina Is Training…

…well sort of. This must feel awkward.

While Gina is showing off her Muay Thai skills to the media, Kaitlin Young is pushing 350lbs up 40ft long inclines, flipping tires twice her size, and pulling trucks with her teeth. Okay, well not with her teeth, but pulling a truck nevertheless.

Gina Carano Talks Her Preparations For Kaitlin Young…

…or her lack thereof. Gina Carano will be taking on a very dangerous Kaitlin Young at EliteXC ‘Primetime’ on the first-ever primetime network televised MMA card. I hope she’s ready.
