UFC On FOX 8 Receives Demetrious Johnson-John Moraga, Miesha Tate-Liz Carmouche

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has received his return date, as “Mighty Mouse” will face John Moraga at UFC on FOX 8.

UFC officials confirmed the championship match for the July 27 card from Seattle. The main card airs on FOX, while the prelims are likely to be televised on FX and Facebook.

Also, a female bantamweight bout between Miesha Tate and Liz Carmouche was made official, as well.

Johnson and Moraga were set to square off earlier this month before the champion went down with an injury. The UFC decided to wait and re-book the contest instead of pairing Moraga with someone else in the meantime.

Miesha Tate Talks TUF 18

Miesha Tate takes some time to talk about the next season of The Ultimate fighter. To make is short, she compares this season to MTV’s ‘The Real World’. That gives me 100% enough information to decide I will be watching 0% of this season.

Miesha Tate Believes Cat Zingano In For A Rude-Awakening Saturday

Miesha Tate hasn’t experienced the lights of competing in the UFC, but she has been the center of a card and fought some of the best female fighters in the world.

Tate, who will battle Cat Zingano for a spot on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter this Saturday night, recently told Bleacher Report that she believes Zingano is in over her head.

“I’ve fought the best in the world,” Tate said. “I’ve fought Sarah Kaufman, I’ve fought Marloes Coenen, I’ve fought Ronda Rousey, I’ve fought some really top-quality opponents. I know what it feels like to be on a big stage. I know what it feels like to be in there with top-five ranked women in the world. Those are things I can honestly say looking at Cat’s record and her history, she doesn’t have going for her. I don’t think she’s fought anyone in the Top-10 at all at 135. She’s never fought on the big stage. I think it’s going to be a disadvantage. It’s going to be quite a shock for her.”

Tate battled Rousey for the Strikeforce title in a much-talked-about contest last year.

“Cupcake” could have a point, but the jitters are going to be there for both of these female fighters despite the bout taking place on TV.

Ronda Rousey Predicts Her Next Opponent

Ronda Rousey makes her “pick” for the upcoming fight between Cat Zingano and Miesha Tate. Don’t get your hopes up for anything concrete though. As happens all too often with athletes and politicians alike, she dodges the question at hand.

Invicta FC President Says Promotion Has ‘Working Relationship’ With UFC

Not many people were surprised when the UFC started gobbling up most of the top female fighters signed to Invicta FC’s roster earlier this year.

With the creation of the bantamweight division in the UFC, the promotion needed to form a roster quickly. Fighters such as Sarah Kaufman and Amanda Nunes were booked for Saturday’s Invicta FC 5 event, but also signed deals with the UFC.

Kaufman is still competing this weekend, while Nunes was forced out with an injury. Shannon Knapp, president of the all-female promotion, recently talked with BloodyElbow about the deal between Invicta FC and the UFC.

It’s not really co-promotion so much as it is a good working relationship. Our goal, as I stated from the beginning, was to come in here, build a platform, increase the awareness, break down the barriers and give the athletes their opportunity. I think since the UFC ventured into adding females to their cards, we’ve become an asset to each other. I feel good about the relationship moving forward and it will be beneficial to all. The girls can go back and forth between the two entities. We have Sarah Kaufman, and we would have had Amanda Nunes, but she had an injury. But yeah, the relationship is still intact, so if we can be of service, or vice versa, I’m sure that we’ll continue to work together moving forward. I’ve agreed to let my 135 pounders try out for The Ultimate Fighter. They have one weight division, and we have five. I don’t mind helping them out, because it just continues to create opportunities and it is beneficial to both of us. It’s all coming together and I just couldn’t be happier.

The 18th season of TUF will begin later this year, with Ronda Rousey already signed on as one of the coaches. She will compete opposite either Miesha Tate or Cat Zingano.
