Alistair Overeem has been under a microscope lately for not defending his Strikeforce Heavyweight title. He was criticized up and down for fighting in the 2009 K-1 WGP, and now word is he’s going to be fighting Sam Hoger on Oct. 17 at Golden Glory 11.

There’s two sides to every story, and today, M-1 president Vadim Finkelchtein gave his regarding allegations that M-1 are “a bunch of crooks” made by Golden Glory’s Bas Boon.

Alistair Overeem’s manager and Golden Glory head, Bas Boon, dropped a bomb on us a couple weeks ago when he called M-1 ‘a bunch of crooks’ and insinuated Alistair wouldn’t fight on any Strikeforce/M-1 Global co-promoted cards.

Here’s another twist to the ongoing Strikeforce-Alistair Overeem saga.

Bas Boon, Overeem’s manager and head of Golden Glory, ripped M-1 Global in a forum post earlier today (translation via Bloody Elbow). He even implied that he sees their presence as an opportunity to get out of their Strikeforce contract.

“It hasn’t escaped my notice that we are dealing with a bunch of crooks who wish to brand their name onto someone who has managed to build up a successful organization on his own with a good network deal.”

“Our deal with Strikeforce was made before this bunch of robbers came along, but now we were planning on asking our money in advance. In fact, I see this as the ideal opportunity to say no to the contract that was signed earlier; we don’t want to fight on any M-mini Cons & co promotions.”

“Is this the same organization that let Tommy Depret fly to America for nothing without having the decency to phone him to let him know it was cancelled?”

“I wonder what happens if Fedor loses a couple of times, or can’t fight due to circumstances, to all those enforced `Co-Promotions` that do not benefit the fighters in any way.”

I can’t read Dutch, so I don’t know if he added anything else of note in follow-up posts, but this is a pretty serious statement. He’s basically saying Alistair Overeem won’t fight on any Strikeforce/M-1 co-promoted cards (with maybe the exception of getting paid upfront), which means he probably won’t be fighting Fedor (the only Fedor fight in Strikeforce I care about seeing). Not to mention that he may try to get Alistair out of his Strikeforce contract altogether.
