Joseph Benavidez Behind The Scenes DREAM.5 Entrance

Carmichael Dave of KHTK.com was able to get Urijah Faber’s footage of Joseph Benavidez’s ring entrance at DREAM.5 from their point of view. It’s pretty sweet. If I was a professional fighter, fighting in Japan at least once would have to be on my list of career goals. Having Lenne Hardt scream out your name would be surreal.

Cro Cop Withdraws From DREAM.5; Will Have Knee Surgery

Mirko Cro Cop FilipovicDREAM.5 just took another hit. Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic has withdrawn from DREAM.5 due to worsening injuries and DREAM’s failure to secure him a solid opponent. Cro Cop informed his fans of the news via his blog at MMA-ID.com.

unfortunately I have some bad news– I won’t be fighting at DREAM 5 at all. I was about to face Jerome LeBanner but he decided to fight in K1 against Schilt. Mighty Mo was the alternative and I accepted this challenge, but unfortunately Mighty Mo pulled off from the fight. I was ready to face Mo, but maybe this scenario wasn’t that bad for me at all and I’ll tell you why.

I’ve been having problems with my right elbow for years and the injury got even worse over last 6 months. I’m already receiving a proper treatment but the recovery won’t happen over night. The second problem is a knee injury, something that troubles me for quite a while. I had difficulties using my kicks and over last few weeks I focused more on boxing and grappling. I really wanted to fight on July 21 and I was even ignoring doctor’s suggestions, but now I’ve rached [sic] the point from which I can’t continue with my normal training regiment due to my injuries.

Cro Cop stated he is scheduled to have his knee scoped today and expects to be training again in a few weeks. If all goes well, Cro Cop plans on returning in September, hopefully against Alistair Overeem, who recently called him out and claimed Cro Cop was ducking him.

Mirko Cro Cop Vs. Jerome LeBanner Postponed To DREAM.5

Mirko 'Cro Cop' FilipovicMirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic and Jerome LeBanner were supposed to square off at DREAM.4 on June 15, but Nokaut.com claims the fight is being moved to DREAM.5 on July 20 due to an unconfirmed K-1 bout involving LeBanner and Semmy Schilt on June 29. This may work out in Cro Cop’s favor. He recently suffered a minor leg injury in training.

Nokaut discussed the situation with Cro Cop:

“Yes, I’m going to fight on July 20. I was looking forward to appearing on the DREAM 4 card on June 15 and I based my preparations on that. I suffered a minor leg injury last week, but it doesn’t affect my trainings. During a wrestling session, I slipped and felt pain in my left knee, but the medical exams have confirmed that no damage was done. I’m wearing a special bandage just as a precaution.”

The postponement only leaves LeBanner with an extra week in between fights, however LeBanner is a K-1 fighter first and foremost so it makes sense that he would want to make sure he was 100% for his kickboxing match.

It’s important to note that neither fighter has confirmed this match as of yet.
