You knew it was coming.

We mentioned last week that UFC president Dana White was planning a special to counter-program EliteXC’s second outing on CBS scheduled for July 26. Well, it looks like that special will be UFC 84, arguably the best UFC event thus far in 2008. Spike TV, of course, will have the honors of broadcasting the event.

UFC Attempting To Give Tito Ortiz The Boot From The UFC 84 Post-Fight Presser Video

By now, everyone has heard the story of the UFC trying to kick Tito Ortiz out of the UFC 84 post-fight press conference. Many different media outlets have written their account of how the whole situation went down. Well, now there is video and its just not as big of a deal as it originally sounded. It does seem like Tito came to the party a little early.

UFC 84 Fighter Payouts

MoneyThe NSAC has released the fighter payouts for UFC 84. Keep in mind, these figures represent the base contracted pay the fighter receives from the promotion. These figures do not include any additional “locker room” bonuses or sponsorship money, which in many cases exceeds a fighter’s base pay. These numbers also do not account for taxes, insurance, and license fees.

Michael Jackson At UFC 84

Michael JacksonFrom TMZ.com:

Michael Jackson is already thrusting his face back into the Las Vegas spotlight … two inches of forehead at a time.

Jacko hit the Ultimate Fighting Championship match at the MGM Grand Saturday night, clad in his finest burka-ish ensemble. That’s not a typo — Michael Jackson enjoys cage fighting!

MJ rolled up to the event in a wheelchair, just in time to watch Tito Ortiz get smacked around … that is, if he could see anything through those ridiculously blacked out shades.

If you thought Tito decided against taking a few final shots at Dana White and the UFC at UFC 84, you were wrong. Apparently, the fireworks that everyone was anticipating happened back stage at the post-fight press conference—one Tito apparently had to force his way into. Dave Meltzer has the story.

With UFC 84 only hours away, I wanted to briefly revisit all the questions that should be answered in tonight’s event. I’ll come back to the post after the event (which may end being tomorrow morning) and update it with answers.

What a great event UFC 84 was. If you missed it, well, you missed it, because it was the best UFC event in recent memory, in my opinion. Answers, results and wrap-up after the jump.

Tito Ortiz On ESPN Sportscenter

Tito vs Randy Couture II? I’m not so sure how interested Randy would be for that fight other than the money that could potentially come from it.

Tito mentions Donald Trump in the segment. If you watched this past season of The Apprentice, you know how much Donald Trump likes Tito. If fact, he gave him an extra fifty grand to give to Tito’s charity out of his own pocket. Donald also hosted the Affliction ‘Banned’ press conference at Trump Tower in New York the other day. Trump is good friends with Vince McMahon, who has been sniffing around MMA for awhile. Trump likes money. I would not be surprised at all if “the Donald” slowly sneaks his way into MMA at some point if it really takes off in the mainstream this year.

UFC 84 Weigh-In Results

Tito Ortiz Dana White Is My Bitch T-Shirt ImageThe UFC 84 weigh-ins just took place in Las Vegas. All fighters made weight without any problems.

If you happened to have missed it, the photo of Tito on the right was the highlight. Oddly, UFC President Dana White was not in attendance to sport his own “Tito Is My Bitch!” shirt.

The weigh-in results:

  • B.J. Penn (155lbs) vs. Sean Sherk (155lbs)
  • Wanderlei Silva (205lbs) vs. Keith Jardine (205lbs)
