UFC 85: Bedlam Results & Wrap-Up (Updated With Bonuses)
UFC 85: Bedlam took place this afternoon at the O2 Arena in London, England.
Thiago Alves faced off against Matt Hughes for the opportunity to get a shot at the UFC Welterweight Championship.
Michael Bisping looked to take his second victory at middleweight against Jason Day.
Mike Swick looked to redeem himself after a disappointing debut at middleweight against the Marcus Davis, who was riding on six fight win streak in the UFC.
Nate Marquardt and Thales Leites squared off to stay in the title hunt in the UFC middleweight division.
Brandon Vera and Fabricio Werdum faced off to possibly determine who will get a crack at the winner of the UFC Heavyweight Championship match between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir that’s set to take place later this year.
Results after the jump.
Thiago Alves Pulls A Carano, Misses Weight By Four Pounds
The weigh-ins for UFC 85: Bedlam took place this morning in London, England. All fighters made weight except for one. Thiago Alves came in four pounds heavy at 174lbs (technically three lbs over; 1 pound allowance in non-title fights). His opponent Matt Hughes has agreed to take the fight at a catchweight of 174lbs. Nothing was mentioned but it is likely Alves will have to forfeit a percentage of his purse to Hughes for the overage.
I can’t remember the last time a fighter besides Gina Carano missed weight by four pounds. Alves did take the fight on short notice, but he still should have had enough time to get the weight off.
Thiago Alves (174) VS Matt Hughes (170)
Jason Day (184) VS Michael Bisping (184)
Mike Swick (170) VS Marcus Davis (170)
Thales Leites (185) VS Nate Marquardt (185)
