In case you forgot, the UFC countered this past weekend’s Strikeforce event with a replay of UFC 94 “St. Pierre vs Penn 2.”

Like many of us, it seems as though Keith Kizer is ready to move on from GreaseGate. He doesn’t believe the commission will bring forth any disciplinary action against GSP or his cornermen, at least not with the current evidence and testimony. Penn and his lawyer, on the other hand, aren’t quite as ready to let it go, but at least BJ hasn’t forgotten about his lightweight title defense against Kenny Florian late this summer.

BJ Penn and Co. did not get their wish today.

While another controversy from UFC 94 is being put under the microscope today, one resolution has been reached.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission will gather today to review the greasing allegations made against Georges St. Pierre and his cornermen, Phil Nurse and Greg Jackson, stemming from GSP’s UFC 94 bout with BJ Penn.

We should learn this afternoon what could possibly come of all this. Many fans, myself included, are growing tired of this whole situation and it’s relieving to know that it will (hopefully) be dealt with in a timely and effective manner. Keith Kizer spoke to Sherdog about how he feels the meeting might go down.

The main thing here [for Tuesday’s hearing] is let’s see what happened in the fight and let’s find out what happened from Phil [Nurse] and Greg [Jackson], what happened and why it happened. Secondly, let’s figure out a way to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Now whether it goes beyond that is up to the commissioners — and it may or may not…. What I see happening is something along these lines: a very strict warning to Phil, a warning to everybody that there’s no place for this, and maybe something [determined] along the lines that every corner can have one designated Vaseline guy and that guy can not touch the fighter anywhere else on his body, except for his face, until the end of the fight.

Just like they did when Elite XC rolled into town, the UFC has opted to counter program the April 11th ‘inaugural’ Strikeforce card.

GreaseGate, nope, not going away.

Ah, GreaseGate, the story that just won’t go away.

By now, you’ve probably already seen this, but if you haven’t here’s the GreaseGate video BJ Penn apparently “commissioned.” Personally, I’m sick of this story, and don’t think this video changes anything nor does it change my opinion on the situation. If I go on any further about it, I might say more than I should, so I’ll refer you to MDS’s thoughts on it. He sums up my feelings on it a lot nicer than I can at the moment.
