Mike Straka addresses his question that set off Chuck Liddell and Ed Soares at the UFC 97 post-fight press conference.

The two hottest topics to come out of UFC 97 has been Chuck Liddell’s potential retirement and Anderson Silva’s disappointing performance. Dana White addressed them both in length in a new interview with InsideFighting.com.

Disrespect again. Disrespect to the public and so bad for the UFC, because everybody is waiting to see a great show. If you are going to fight in the main event you have a lot of responsibility because the fans pay to see [the fights] and this [performance] is bad for the sport. Everybody needs to have serious conduct in the fights, respect the fight…With me he does not want to play. He does not want to put down his hands because if he puts down his hands, I will beat him.

I don’t know about you, but I need to see this fight. It can’t possibly be boring.

Nearly doomed by the preliminary card running over into the pay-per-view broadcast, the fight between Matt Wiman and Sam Stout made its way into a coveted spot between Chuck Liddell’s retirement party, and Anderson Silva’s cool-down sparring session. Luckily, we all got to see this fantastic fight, in which each participant pocketed a cool $70k “Fight of the Night” bonus.

Chuck Liddell’s boxing trainer for the Shogun fight, Howard Davis Jr., talks about Chuck’s performance and the disappointing ending. Davis says Chuck did everything he asked him to, contrary to rumors that he didn’t, and didn’t have an explanation as to why Chuck didn’t implement his training other than the old “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” cliche.

While the Silva vs Leites UFC middleweight title fight has left a bad taste in the majority of mixed martial arts fans’ mouths, including Dana White’s, the UFC has no choice but to find exciting match-ups for their middleweight champ to help rebuild his image.

You may have heard about a reporter asking Anderson Silva why he wouldn’t engage and finish the fight at the post-fight press conference which resulted in Chuck Liddell getting pissed off and Anderson just sitting there uninterested. That reporter was Mike Straka from Fox News Fight Game, and yes, it was a little uncomfortable.
