Gina Carano, known as Crush on the NBC hit show American Gladiators, has decided to take the fight against Kaitlin Young, slated for May 31 on the CBS/EliteXC Saturday Night Fights debut card, despite having to film the second season of American Gladiators in the weeks leading up to the fight. Ariel Helwani spoke to Gina about this in an interview on MMARated.com.
The big question surrounding her decision to train and film at the same time is if she will be 100% ready for her fight with a dangerous Kaitlin Young:
”I’m gonna be double-teaming [filming and training] and I know that’s going to be kind of a difficult thing to do, but I think if anyone can do it, I can do it.”
Carano is easily MMA’s biggest female star. Her popularity has soared since she debuted as “Crush” on American Gladiators. Because of that, she has not stepped inside the cage since September 15 of last year in a victory over Tonya Evinger at EliteXC: Uprising.
Despite being the face of women’s MMA, most consider female mixed martial artists such as Tara Larosa and Shayna Baszler to be superior fighters. Gina talks about both and gives her thoughts on Young in the interview.
