Affliction held their first of two press conferences yesterday.

More news was revealed during the press conference.

  • Affliction has secured a deal with Fox Sports Net (FSN). FSN will air the hour-long preliminary fights on FSN as lead-in for the pay-per-view. This includes the newly-announced Aleksander Emelianenko & Paul Buentello fight.
  • Check out more Affliction “Banned” content on MMAConvert.com.

  • Antonio Rogerio Nogueira was announced as a new signing for Affliction. ‘Little Nog’ is expected to be added to the ‘Banned’ card.
  • CSAC Executive Director Armando Garcia confirmed the $3.5 million bond has been posted. This confirms that at least the base salaries do not reach the $5-6 million mark that was originally rumored. However, the bond does not cover any bonuses, so it is still unknown how much Affliction will drop in fighter pay.
  • Ticket sales reached $250,000 in the first 30 minutes, which many are saying is a positive indicator for Affliction. My question is what did sales look like after one hour? Two hours? Was the total $500,000? $1 million? Or $255,000? $250k is great in the first 30 minutes, but was that just from a big rush of hardcore fans and scalpers? The hardcore fans are not going pull Affliction out of the red. It will be interesting to see how ticket sales do in the coming days and weeks leading up the event.

Press Conference Video With Tim & Fedor

The full press conference video came be found at Sherdog.com.

I know Tim is huge, and Fedor is a smaller heavyweight, but Fedor looked a lot smaller next to Tim than I imagined.
