It appears the investigation into Holli Griggs’ miscarriage that delayed Quinton Jackson’s original arraignment date have concluded. Jackson has been formally charged by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office with two felonies and four misdemeanors in relation to Jackson’s July 15 traffic incidents.
The charges are as follows.
- One felony count of evading while driving recklessly
- One felony count of evading a police officer and driving against traffic
- Three misdemeanor counts of hit and run with property damage
- One misdemeanor count of reckless driving
Jackson’s arraignment has now been scheduled for August 28. His bail will be set at $25,000. If convicted, he could face up to 3 years in prison.
Fortunately for Jackson, the investigators did not find any evidence that suggested he was at fault for Ms. Griggs’ miscarriage. Orange County DA spokeswoman Farrah Emami spoke to MMAWeekly.com about the results of their investigation.
“We reviewed all the medical records and spoke with the victim’s physician, and the evidence showed that the loss of the fetus was not related to or a result of the crash caused by the defendant.”
That has to be a big sigh of relief for Quinton. I’m not a lawyer, but I would imagine if he had been charged and convicted for causing the miscarriage, the legal and financial penalties, not to mention the guilt that would have accompanied it, likely would have been devastating.
Unless Jackson has some major prior offenses on his record I’m not aware of, I can’t imagine Jackson will do any jail time. Hopefully, he’ll be able to put this behind him as soon as possible and move forward with his career.
