Alistair Overeem vs Mirko Cro Cop

It looks like the Croatian reports were true. According to Alistair Overeem, he will indeed face Mirko Cro Cop at DREAM.6 on Sept. 23.

Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem (Pictures) confirmed to that he will meet former Pride Open Weight Grand Prix winner Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (Pictures) at Dream 6 on Sept. 23 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

“The fight is definitely happening, and I’m really glad,” the 28-year-old Dutchman said. “I am already training very hard, and I’m 100 percent certain that it will not go the distance. I don’t care if it is going to be by knockout or by submission, I don’t want the fight to go to a judges’ decision. I want to finish Mirko Cro Cop.”

Overeem would not divulge if he had received a contract yet for the heavyweight bout.

This is Japan we’re talking about and the fight has yet to be announced by DREAM, so its hard to say its 100% happening, but assuming it does, it should be one of the more exciting heavyweight fights this year. Not to mention, these two have been going to back in forth in the media all summer long, so it will be nice to see the two actually meet after all the hype, unlike a certain other matchup that isn’t happening.
