UFC LogoIn case you missed it during tonight’s broadcast of UFC Fight Night 15 and the TUF 9 premiere, a couple of announcements were made.

Mike Goldberg said TUF 9 would consist of welterweights and middleweights from the US and England. He called it The Ultimate Fighter season 9 “US vs. UK.” Open casting calls will take place on October 20 in London, England, and October 27 in Chicago, Illinois.

Dana White announced the rumored Dec. 10 event for the troops. It’s being dubbed as “UFC Fights For The Troops.” It’s a three hour event that will air on Spike TV. The event will benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund with the goal to raise millions of dollars for the National Intrepid Center of Excellence. During the event, viewers will be able to donate money to the fund. Here’s info on the “Center for the Intrepid.”

The “Center for the Intrepid” serves military personnel who have been catastrophically disabled in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and veterans severely injured in other operations and in the normal performance of their duties. The 60,000 square foot Center provides ample space and facilities for the rehabilitation needs of the patients and their caregivers. It includes state-of-the-art physical rehabilitation equipment and extensive indoor and outdoor facilities.

During a TUF 9 premiere commercial break, Spike advertised that they will be showing UFC 86 and 87 on Oct. 4 and Oct. 11, respectively. That means EliteXC/CBS “Heat – Kimbo vs Shamrock” will be counter programmed by UFC 86, and if Affliction hadn’t of “rescheduled” their second event, they would have been countered by UFC 87.

You knew it was coming.
