Robbie Lawler’s manager, Monte Cox, was making a heavy push for Strikeforce to book Lawler against Matt Lindland. His requests must have feel on deaf ears though, because a month-and-a-half later, word is Strikeforce wants him to fight Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza or Nick Diaz next.
Little has been heard from Robbie Lawler since losing to Jake Shields at a Strikeforce event in June, but FanHouse has learned that the former EliteXC middleweight champion has been offered to return on Strirkeforce’s December card. Lawler has verbally agreed to fight at the end of the year but no opponent has been finalized.
FanHouse has also learned that two opponents have been talked about to face Lawler: Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Nick Diaz.
Lawler-Diaz II would be badass, but wait a second, what about Jay Hieron? A few weeks ago, he was fired up because there was no movement on his promised title shot against Diaz. If this fight pans out, how infuriated are you if you’re Hieron? I’d do what I had to do to leave and never look back.
