Two of the remaining match-ups for Strikeforce “Miami” leaked out today.
Cris Cyborg is already set to defend her women’s 145lbs. championship against Marloes Coenen, and Nick Diaz and Marius Zaromskis will square off in one of January’s must-see fights.
Additionally, MMA Mania is reporting KJ Noons will return to mixed martial arts action against Billy Evangelista. Unless Noons has lost a step in his hiatus, he should take this one setting himself up as lightweight title contender in 2010.
Last we heard from Jay Hieron, he was pretty upset that his promised title fight against Nick Diaz wasn’t coming together. Well, it didn’t, and instead he’ll fight Joe Riggs on Jan. 30. You would think Hieron would be furious at Strikeforce for how the match-ups played out, but he’s not. He decided to take the high road and remain patient.
Even before discussions about the Riggs fight, Hieron told MMAjunkie.com Radio he simply wants big fights and will remain patient for a title shot.
“All good things come to those that wait,” Hieron said. “Trust me; I’m going to make a statement in my next fight.”
If Hieron indeed makes the statement he promises, hopefully he won’t have to wait too much longer.
