Herschel Walker and Bobby Lashley will get a pair of opponents for Strikeforce “Miami” that are as inexperienced as they are.
Strikeforce executive Mike Afromowitz on Friday informed MMAWeekly.com that the Florida State Boxing Commission has approved Greg Nagy to be Walker’s opponent in his MMA debut on Jan. 30 at Strikeforce: Miami.
UltMMA was the first to the report the match-up. Nagy has fought twice for Rage in the Cage and is 21 years younger than the former Heisman Trophy winner.
Meanwhile, Lashley is expected to fight Yohan Banks (2-1), however the FSBC has yet to approve the match-up.
As much as I think we’d all like to see Walker and Lashley fight guys we’re a little more familiar with, I think Nagy and Banks are suitable opponents given the stage they’re currently at it in their careers.
