Details of two of DREAM’s high-profile summer bouts have leaked out.

It looks like the long-talked about Nick Diaz vs. Hayato “Mach” Sakurai fight is finally going to happen at DREAM.15.

Nick Diaz will be fighting in Japan against Mach Sakurai in Dream’s May 29th show. The fight was scheduled as an ongoing cooperation between Strikeforce and the Dream organizations. As Strikeforce’s Welterweight Champion, Diaz vs Sakurai will be held at the 170lbs weight limit.

This will be a non-title fight. Dream had considered hosting a Diaz-Zaromskis rematch for the Dream Championship Belt but ultimately decided to go with a fight for the Japanese fans. When asked for comment Diaz replied “Good. I’ve been trying to fight this guy for a long time now.”

Another fight that’s been talked about for months but never materialized is Shinya Aoki vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri. They were rumored to fight on NYE ’09 on the Dynamite show after Kawajiri called out Aoki in October, but they ended up taking part in DREAM vs. Sengoku themed fights instead. The fight wasn’t permanently shelved though as it appears Kawajiri will get his shot at Aoki and his magic grappling pants sometime in July at DREAM.16.

Update: Since the DREAM.14 show in Korea was canceled, DREAM.15 is now DREAM.14, thus Diaz-Sakurai will go down at DREAM.14. This likely means Aoki-Kawajiri will take place at DREAM.15, not DREAM.16.
