As the old saying goes, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.
That appears to be Shinya Aoki’s immediate plans after eating a giant slice of humble last weekend against Gilbert Melendez. According the official website of Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Shinya Aoki has requested to come train with the team, and Cesar has accepted. Aoki may be bringing other Japanese fighters with him as well. Should be a good experience for Aoki as long as Nick Diaz doesn’t see this or this.
Other news from Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu:
- Nate Diaz will fight at 170 lbs. next. Looking forward to it.
- Nick Diaz will spar with Chuck Liddell next week to help him prepare for Rich Franklin. Didn’t see that coming, but okay. Love to see that sparring session.
- Team Cesar Gracie proclaims they are the #1 team in MMA with four fighters holding world titles. Four irrelevant promotional titles doesn’t necessarily mean #1, but yeah, the team is on a roll.
