Satoshi Ishii didn’t fare too well in his professional MMA debut against Hidehiko Yoshida. He turned it around in his second pro fight though. Ishii took on kickboxer Tafa Misipati in New Zealand over the weekend. Instead of trying to stand and trade like he did against Yoshida, Ishii neutralized Misipati’s striking game, took him to the canvas using his Olympic gold medal judo game (why he’s a big deal in the first place) and submitted him pretty easily with an armbar. He has a way to go before he lives up to all the pre-Yoshida hype, but getting that first W is a good place to start.
