Dana White already stated that Vitor Belfort is in line to face the winner of the UFC 117 middleweight title showdown between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. While it was sort of already assumed, Belfort’s manager has confirmed Vitor won’t get a warm-up fight in the meantime. They’re expecting to fight the Silva-Sonnen winner later this fall.

Fabiano Farah, Belfort’s representative, told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that the fighter will not get a warm-up fight before he vies for the 185-pound belt.

“Vitor will be in (the best) absolute physical condition to return to the octagon and fight for the UFC title by November 2010,” Farah wrote today in an email.

If Vitor fights for the middleweight title in November, 22 months will have passed since he last fought at 185 lbs. (Vitor KO’d Matt Lindland at Affliction DoR, 1/24/09). Of course, if he fights Anderson Silva and manages to beat him, hardly anyone will remember or care.
