The WEC 50 fight card is starting to come together. In the main event, bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will put his title on the line in a rematch against Joseph Benavidez.

Joseph Benavidez will not only get a crack at avenging the only loss of his career, but he’ll also have the opportunity to take home the WEC bantamweight title as he takes on champion Dominick Cruz in the main event of the upcoming show on August 18.

The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight on Tuesday evening, and was first reported by the Carmichael Dave show on Tuesday as well.

Also, Urijah Faber will return to action on the card after getting leg kicked to death by Jose Aldo at WEC 48. He won’t fight at 145 lbs. though. It seems the WEC has convinced Faber to move down to bantamweight in hopes of reinvigorating his career. He’ll face Takeya Mizugaki at 135.

The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight stating bout agreements have been issued at this point for the bantamweight showdown.

Another report suggests lightweight contender Shane Roller will also fight on the card. His opponent is unknown at this time.

WEC 50 is expected to take place at the Palms Casino & Resort in Las Vegas on August 18, and will air on Versus.
