EA Sports announced today at E3 that Fedor Emelianenko and Randy Couture will share the cover of EA Sports MMA. But that wasn’t their big announcement.

THQ attempted to enhance the online experience of UFC Undisputed with online fight camps this year. EA Sports is attempting to do the same, but are taking a much different approach with the addition of an online mode they are calling “Live Broadcast.” Basically, a few lucky gamers will be invited to compete on live online fight cards broadcast to the public over Xbox Live, PSN and even the internet for real-world prizes.

From what I gather there are two ways to get onto one of these fight cards. Kick everyone’s ass and climb to the top of the online leaderboards or earn fans by creating your own hype videos and uploading them to EA Sports’ website. The more people who watch your match, the more popular your online fighter will be rated. It’s basically like real life, either be really good at fighting or really good at selling fights, and even better if you’re good at both.

EA Sports hasn’t decided how often these live broadcasts will be held, but it may be every few days. More details at IGN.

EA will demo this new feature tomorrow at 6PM ET on their official website with a two-fight card featuring live commentary from Mauro Ranallo and Jason “Mayhem” Miller.

Update: Release date for EA Sports MMA is October 19.
