The question was inevitable. What does Brock Lesnar think about Fedor Emelianenko losing his first fight? At the UFC 106 open workouts today, Lesnar responded with a very simple answer, “That sucks. I feel bad for the guy. Next question.”

In print, it doesn’t sound like Brock’s being very sincere. After all, this is Brock Lesnar we’re talking about. Except he was, or at least he was earlier this morning on The Jim Rome Show. Rome asked Brock that same question, and what do you know, Brock Lesnar genuinely feels bad for Fedor. Via

“It was disappointing. I hate to see a guy like that. Whether his legacy was more of a mystique than it was, he stood up and he was respectful and it was tough to see. It reminded me of my first fight against Frank [Mir] when I got really anxious and fell right into the trap… That’s a tough pill to swallow. That’s a big pill to swallow and I definitely do not want to try to swallow that pill again… I feel bad for him… No I don’t. I don’t think any less of him. We’re human beings and we all make mistakes and it’s whether or not we can get up and better ourselves. That’s what true champions are made of, I believe.”

Didn’t see that coming, did ya?

Word is Brock Lesnar was all smiles at the open workouts today. He told the media he feels “fortunate” just to be here, and have the opportunity to continue his career and defend his title. A far cry from the Brock
