I forget if this was already confirmed or not, but Mauricio “Shogun” Rua tells Sherdog it was in fact his left knee that was operated on. It’s the same knee that he injured twice earlier in his UFC career, and it was the ACL just like before. Despite three surgeries on the same knee, Shogun says he’ll be 100% in November and could fight as soon as December or January. Here’s to hoping he doesn’t rush back too soon and injure it yet again.
Update: On ESPN MMA Live, Dana White said they will not put Mauricio “Shogun” Rua back in the cage until sometime in the spring-early summer of next year. He believes Shogun continues to injure his knee because he pushes it too hard, too soon, and they’re not going let him do it this time. An interim title will not be created in the meantime.
