As expected, Chael Sonnen will appeal the positive drug test stemming from his middleweight title fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 117. The CSAC’s George Dodd informed MMA Junkie earlier today that the hearing is scheduled for the commission’s Dec. 2 meeting.

Chael Sonnen will go before the California State Athletic Commission on Dec. 2 in Sacramento to appeal his failed drug test.

That’s according to CSAC Executive Director George Dodd, who today confirmed the appeal hearing with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Sonnen has requested documentation from the test, including all relevant info from the WADA lab, for the Dec. 2 hearing.

The CSAC will assign someone to represent its interests at the hearing, according to Dodd.

It’s still unknown how Sonnen plans to approach the appeal. Sonnen is suspended until Sept. 2, 2011 unless he convinces the commission otherwise at the hearing.
