Dana White told a room full of reporters earlier today that Jake Shields will “probably” earn himself a title shot against Georges St. Pierre or Josh Koscheck if he’s able to beat Martin Kampmann later this month at UFC 121.

At a press conference today in Montreal promoting December’s “UFC 124: St-Pierre vs. Koscheck 2” event, UFC president Dana White said promotional newcomer Jake Shields (25-4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will likely earn himself a title shot with a win in his upcoming octagon debut.

“If Jake Shields should win against Martin Kampmann, it will probably be him next,” White said.

While awarding Shields a title shot with a win at UFC 121 would make a lot of sense, it wouldn’t be the best news for Jon Fitch. Realizing another title shot is still a ways away for him, he told MMANews.com over the weekend that he wants to fight the Shields-Kampmann winner.
