Mike Straka landed the first exclusive interview with Chael Sonnen following his appeal hearing with the CSAC yesterday. It aired earlier tonight on HDNet’s Inside MMA. The interview is posted above in it’s entirety.

It was an interesting conversation. When asked about how he’s going to deal with the perception that he’s on steroids, Chael said he doesn’t plan to deal with it all, nor offer an apology or explanation. He says he wasn’t on steroids and while testosterone he took is lumped in the steroid category, it’s a catch-all and is much like the way cough syrup is considered alcohol. Sonnen says he was found not guilty on the substance abuse issue at the hearing, but found guilty on the disclosure issue. Chael said he disclosed his testosterone use four different times with the commission and isn’t sure in hindsight what he could have done differently. He maintains he was given a “lifetime approval” for a therapeutic use exemption for testosterone in 2009 and that was his strongest case. This is of course what the CSAC says they have no record of. At this point, Chael says he is still confused about what the commission wanted and doesn’t believe they have any official protocols in place to deal with his type of situation, and after yesterday’s meeting that appears to be the case.

As far as what’s next, Sonnen says he has something lined up already but it’s a secret. Who wants to bet it’s a title fight against the Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort winner?

Update: Or maybe it’s Wanderlei Silva. The twitter account that Chael Sonnen once said was his then later denied just published this new tweet.

Wand, you might as well fill out your own toe tag. Where is says “Cause of death,” just write, “I pissed off a Gangster.”
