It’s official, the UFC will make their Ontario debut in Toronto on April 30 at The Rogers Centre. The event will be UFC 131.

Today during a media and fan event at the Air Canada Centre, UFC president Dana White confirmed that UFC 131 takes place April 30 at the 69,000-seat Rogers Centre.

No fights were announced for the show, but UFC 131 will feature a two-day UFC Fan Expo at the Direct Energy Centre from April 29-30.

Given the size of the venue and Canada’s immense MMA fan base, the show, which airs on pay-per-view, likely will shatter the North American MMA attendance and live-gate records.

Tickets are expected to go on sale in January.

As mentioned, no fights were announced or hinted at, but you have to imagine they’ll bring Georges St. Pierre along with them if they’re trying to fill the 69,000-seat Rogers Centre.

It also looks like the UFC will be heading to Brazil next year too. According to Tatame, the UFC is set to hold a press conference next week to announce the UFC’s return to Brazil. Dates  and event numbers weren’t revealed, but apparently the UFC will hold a show in Rio de Janeiro sometime next year. UFC champs Anderson Silva and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua are said to be press conference participants.
