MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani sat down with Strikeforce’s Scott Coker for a “Backstage” chat following Strikeforce “Henderson vs. Babalu” earlier this month. Coker shared his thoughts on a variety of topics including Fedor Emelianenko’s value to Strikeforce, their ups and downs with M-1 Global, his philosophy on promoting and a four-phase, five-year plan he and company executives have mapped out for the organization. Besides confirming their pay-per-view intentions, Coker wouldn’t reveal what those goals are, but he says he has a “special announcement” to make very soon about the organization’s plans in 2011. They are apparently much different than their goals for 2010. For those of you wondering if Strikeforce is going to go under like many of the other MMA promotions before it, Coker added that the company was profitable in 2010.
