Less than 24 hours after news hit that Stefan Struve would replace Frank Mir in a upcoming heavyweight match-up comes word that Struve has been replaced as well. According to Fighters Only, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will face Schaub at UFC 128 on March 19.

Mirko ‘CroCop’ Filipovic and Brendan Schaub are set to meet on March 19th, Fighters Only can exclusively reveal.

The fight will take place at UFC 128 in the Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey and will air on the evening’s PPV main card.

News of the fight comes from a source very close to the bout. Verbal agreements are in place and paperwork is expected to be finalised soon.

It had been reported that Schaub was to face Frank Mir, then Stefan Struve, but neither of those matches were contracted and have now been scrapped.

It’s said that Cro Cop has two fights left on his current UFC deal, but if he turns in another dreadful performance like he did against Frank Mir, it’s hard to see the UFC keeping him around for the last fight on his contract. Now would be a good time for him to come through on all those promises he’s been making in recent years.
