It’s been quite awhile since we ran our first UFC live chat. While I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout, it was an absolute nightmare to moderate with the program I used. I searched for a long time to find a suitable replacement, but never found anything that quite fit what I needed. With the addition of our new real-time commenting system though, I want to give it another shot and see if Livefyre will function as a suitable platform for everyone to chat during UFC events.

So what I’m going to do is set up a live discussion post on Saturday night for UFC 127 and see how it goes. I’ll launch it when the first batch of prelims start at 8PM ET/5PM PT on Facebook.

To be clear, this will not be a live blog. My brain doesn’t work fast enough to get it all down. If I’m able to find someone who’s capable and willing, we may add that feature in the future but for now, I’m going to stick with posting live results and quick recaps.

By the way, I have confirmed that Livefyre is functioning on the iPhone and I presume Android platforms (though I haven’t confirmed this). If you have one of these fancy phones, you’ll still be able to chat even if you’re out watching the fights at a bar or friend’s house. It looks a little funky which I’m told will be an easy fix when they roll out their big update on March 1, but it does work.

Hope you can make it!
