So much for the Jon Fitch vs. BJ Penn rematch. Following their anti-climatic draw at UFC 127, Fitch and Penn were scheduled to meet again at UFC 132, but reports are coming in that Fitch sustained an undisclosed injury in training and pulled out of the fight. MMA Weekly broke the story earlier this afternoon.

Fitch’s removal from the fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the situation on Wednesday.

While no details were available regarding the nature of the injury, it was severe enough for Fitch to withdraw from the July 2 card.

The report added that a search is underway for a replacement, but as of now, Penn does not have an opponent for UFC 132.

Disappointed?

Update: Carlos Condit says he wants the fight if the call comes.
