In a surprise announcement at E3 2011 today, Dana White revealed that the UFC and Microsoft are bringing live UFC pay-per-view events to the Xbox 360.

“There has never been a better time to be a UFC fan. As you know, we deliver the best fights in the world, and now XBOX will revolutionize how fans experience live events on television. You’ll get all the best fights, and compete with your friends…only on XBOX. Let’s take a look at the innovation you’re gonna see this holiday.”

Availability and pricing wasn’t announced, but the teaser video shown at E3 above seems to indicate that archived fights, live weigh-ins, fighter profiles and the ability to “call the fight” with your friends in real-time will also be features of the service.

Dana White has long maintained that the future of the UFC lives on the internet. This deal seems to be one more step in that direction.
