An exciting welterweight match-up between heavy-hitters Paul Daley and Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos is expected for Strikeforce’s upcoming “Fedor vs. Henderson” card. Daley’s management sent out a press release to several media outlets confirming the fight. Not surprisingly, Paul Daley says to expect a knockout.
“I’m happy to be fighting again,” Daley said in the press release. “It’s a big fight. For those who haven’t seen the Melvin Manhoef vs. Cyborg fight, watch it and expect the same outcome for Cyborg … He’ll be knocked out.”
There was no mention in the release that Daley and Cyborg would be fighting for the recently vacated Strikeforce title, but even if it’s not a title fight, one would think it will at least have title implications considering the lack the depth in Strikeforce’s welterweight division. Strikeforce prospect Tyron Woodley is also expected to be in that discussion, however Strikeforce officials have yet to comment on the situation.
Update: Tarec Saffiedine, who Cyborg Santos was originally believed to be fighting on this card, is now expected to take on Scott Smith.
