Several last-minute injuries have forced the cancellation of two UFC 135 preliminary bouts.

Manny Gamburyan dropped out out of his bout with Diego Nunes two weeks ago with an injured shoulder. The search for a replacement was underway until Nunes withdrew as well due to tendonitis and family issues. It didn’t take long for Joe Silva to find a replacement fight though. The UFC announced yesterday that a featherweight bout between Eddie Yagin and Junior Assuncao would fill the empty slot.

Silva’s work on UFC 135 isn’t done though. Word came today that Kid Yamamoto vs. Damacio Page has also been scratched from the UFC 135 undercard due to injuries. It turns out Page’s injury was pretty serious too. He had to have neck surgery that would have cost him $20,000-$30,000, but fortunately it was covered by the UFC’s new accidental insurance policy. A replacement bout hasn’t been announced yet.

UFC Fight Night 25 and UFC 138 were also hit with injuries in the past week.

Mackens Semerzier and DaMarques Johnson have both withdrawn from UFC Fight Night 25. So far, the UFC has only found a replacement for Johnson. TUF 11’s Seth Baczynski will step in for him to take on Clay Harvison.

Matt Brown will step in for an injured Pascal Krauss at UFC 138. He’ll take on John Hathaway.

On another note, Michael Bisping, Carlos Condit and Ben Henderson have all signed contract extensions with the UFC in the past week.
