Despite his best attempts to insert himself into the UFC 137 card during all the drama last week, it doesn’t look like Jon Fitch is going to get the main event type of opponent he was hoping for in his first fight back from shoulder surgery.
It was rumored last month that Johny Hendricks may be Fitch’s next opponent, and according to ESPN.com, those rumors are proving to be true. Word is they’ll meet at UFC 141 on Dec. 30.
A welterweight fight between former No. 1 contender Jon Fitch and rising prospect Johny Hendricks has been agreed to for UFC 141 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas.
Sources have confirmed to ESPN.com both fighters have verbally committed to the bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
It’s certainly not the type of high-stakes fight Fitch wanted, but it’s an opportunity to fight nonetheless. As Fitch told NBC Sports last month, he’d rather fight than wait.
