The UFC’s first FX fight night event is in the works for sometime in January.

The UFC revealed the plans earlier today along with the announcement of two bouts for the card.

  • Josh Neer vs. Duane “Bang” Ludwig
  • Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft

The exact date, location and international viewing information will be announced “shortly,” according to the announcement.

Update: Yahoo! Sports’ Steve Cofield is reporting the date and location of not only the UFC’s first FX card, but also their second FOX card.

The UFC is looking at making its debut on FX on Friday Jan. 20 with Ultimate Fight Night 26 in Nashville.

Multiple sources confirm that Jan. 28 is the target for UFC on Fox 2 in Chicago at the United Center. That’ll be followed by the Georges St-Pierre-Nick Diaz fight on Super Saturday in Las Vegas on Feb. 4.

This info isn’t official yet, but MMA Junkie (UFN 26) and Loretta Hunt (UFC on FOX 2) are hearing the same thing, so it’s probably legit.

There’s also a little confusion over how long the UFC on FOX 2 event will run. FOX execs mentioned on the conference call last week that future shows would run 90 minutes, however UFC play-by-play announcer Mike Goldberg told Ariel Helwani the other day that they’re looking at two and a half hours. FOX would be the more reliable source here obviously, but perhaps they changed their minds after getting the ratings.
