King Mo put a whooping on Lorenz Larkin this past weekend at Strikeforce “Rockhold vs. Jardine.” He finished the fight in the second round via some vicious ground and pound, however he wasn’t particularly happy with how many unanswered punches it took to convince referee Kim Winslow to stop the action. King Mo expressed his frustration at the post-fight press conference and even suggested Winslow should put herself on the losing end of a late stoppage.

“The commission,” Lawal said at the post-fight press conference, “they need to do something with (Winslow). Let her take a fight or something and give her a bad ref. Let her fight Cyborg or something. Let her fight ‘Cyborg’ and then let’s do a late stoppage of her. Because I watched her almost get Jan Finney killed by ‘Cyborg.’ I think the tables need to be turned. Put me in there as a ref and I’ll just do a terrible job like her.”

Winslow hasn’t responded to the comments that I’m aware, however NSAC executive director Keith Kizer told MMA Fighting that he has “no issues with the stoppage.” In other words, King Mo’s frustration fell on deaf ears to the people who matter.

You can judge for yourself, but if you ask me it wasn’t the worst late stoppage I’ve ever seen. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t late though and while disciplinary action may be a bit much, it would be constructive if Kizer and the NSAC approached it as an opportunity to educate Winslow and other refs on the proper timing of a stoppage.

Or they could just blow it off and do nothing, which appears to be the case here. I doubt anyone is shocked.
