Uh oh. Looks like Alistair Overeem is going to have more legal troubles than just his money dispute with Golden Glory in the next few months.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting that Overeem has been charged with one count of misdemeanor battery for allegedly pushing a woman in the face “causing her to stagger back.” The alleged incident took place in Las Vegas on Jan. 2, two days after he beat Brock Lesnar.

Overeem has since retained “famed” attorney David Chesnoff to fight the charge. Commenting on the charge, Chesnoff said: “There are two sides to this story and we intend on vigorously defending this. Alistair maintains his innocence.”

If convicted, Overeem faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. He’s set to appear in court in Las Vegas on Feb. 21.

So far, no further details about the incident have come out, so it’s unclear what events may have led to Overeem pushing the woman if that’s what in fact happened. It’s also unclear if this situation could impact the timing of his title fight with Junior dos Santos.
