Roy Nelson is finally considering a move to light heavyweight.

It’s a move that fans, media and most importantly, Dana White, have been calling for years. Nelson refused to listen for the longest time, however after falling short against Junior dos Santos, Frank Mir and Fabricio Werdum, it looks like Nelson is finally ready to give 205 a shot. There’s a catch though. He’ll only do it if he gets another 100,000 “likes” on his Facebook page over the next two weeks. Oddly enough, Nelson explained that the idea came when he was debating with a friend whether Facebook or Twitter was the better social media platform. Via BE:

The reason is my friend and I had a discussion about what was better? I think twitter just because of use and for fans interaction, but Facebook is 20x bigger. So we decided to bet. I said if it so easy and great I should be able add 100K fans in 2 weeks because I have that on twitter. Facebook is bigger and better so this should be easy. Right?

Bet is I will try to get to 205 if I can add 100k to in two weeks. I love to win bets. Plus he will have to give me a part in his next movie.

It’s a pretty clever idea on Nelson’s part and it seems to be working. He started out with 32,000 likes meaning it has to get to 132,000 likes for him to attempt to drop to light heavyweight. It’s not there yet, but at the time of this writing he has already added almost 30,000 likes and it’s only the first day. At this rate, he could reach 132k by the end of the week.
