During a recent edition of the Joe Rogan Experience, a podcast put on by the color commentator for the UFC himself, Joe Rogan, Rogan fired back at recent claims he was told by a FOX producer to tone down his announcing during an event.
I’ve been doing the UFC for how long? (Expletive), who knows? ’97. It’s very rare does anyone say anything. But, once we started going on FOX, the producer had to actually tell me in my ear, the FOX executive was like, ‘Tell him to take it down a notch.’ When I’m actually fired up…of course (people) like it! But these (expletive) dummy executives – and I’m not saying the FOX ones – I’m saying pretty much a huge percentage of the group of people in the ‘producer’ position, a lot of them think they’re creative. You can’t tell me to deliver the way I deliver. I’ve been doing it forever.
Rogan and Mike Goldberg handle pay-per-view and FOX events, while the new team of Jon Anik and Kenny Florian have been hosting the other cards.
Many people complain about Rogan’s style, but he has stuck with the UFC and helped them reach another audience through his former and now returning show, Fear Factor, along with his comedy acts.
