Former UFC champion BJ Penn announced his retirement following a loss to Nick Diaz last year. When he did, many figured it would only be a matter of time before Penn came out of retirement and back into action.

However, several months have now passed, and “The Prodigy” appears set in his new lifestyle. Penn was interviewed on the post-UFC on FUEL TV 2 show Saturday.

As of now, I am sticking to that. I haven’t made any plans to come back and fight again. Dana White has actually called me a couple times and talked, it’s just something that’s not in my future right now.

Penn is helping open a UFC gym in Oahu, and there have been rumors of a possible UFC event heading to Hawaii in the future. The idea of such a card taking place without Penn seems crazy, but the longer we go without seeing him in action, the more likely it is.

I’ve just been kind of teaching and training. Just go to the gym when I feel like training. If not, I watch my daughters. That’s all I do.

If we’ve seen the last of Penn inside an Octagon, he’ll hang it up with an obvious Hall of Fame-worthy career.
