Former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez was sitting right next to the boss, UFC president Dana White, Saturday night at UFC on FOX 3 from East Rutherford, New Jersey.

White mentioned this during the post-fight press conference, fueling speculation that Alvarez could be following in the footsteps of Hector Lombard and moving from Bellator to the UFC.

Nate Diaz and Jim Miller competed in the main event, as the two lightweights engaged in a hotly-contested bout. With the UFC’s lightweight division regarded as one of the deepest in the company, adding Alvarez could put it over the top.

Alvarez has discussed his contract on several instances, saying it will expire either in a few months or after his next fight with Bellator. He lost the title to Michael Chandler last year, but rebounded with a win over Shinya Aoki recently.

Lombard, who was the Bellator middleweight champion when his contract expired, signed his new deal with the UFC last week. He will make his debut against Brian Stann later this year, and could vault into a title shot with a win.
