Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion and one-time UFC No. 1 contender Alistair Overeem doesn’t plan on laying around while he is suspended from fighting.

No, as “The Reem” talked about during a recent installment of his documentary series, he is going to get in the best shape possible.

“Basically, we’re going to be out for nine months, but I consider myself a clever guy,” Overeem said. “I’m going to get stronger from this, I’m going to keep training, and I’ll be back in nine months. I’m still going to get that belt.”

Overeem was scheduled to face Junior dos Santos this Saturday night at UFC 146 for the heavyweight title. However, he was denied his fight license by the Nevada Athletic Commission, meaning he cannot re-apply until December of this year.
