Diego Brandao was pegged as a rising star after capturing the title of Ultimate Fighter. Now, Brandao will make his first non-TUF related UFC fight when he meets Darren Elkins on the prelim portion of UFC 146.

Brandao has won each of his past four bouts, including the TUF finale against Dennis Bermudez. While training alongside the likes of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Donald Cerrone and Leonard Garcia at Jackson’s MMA has helped, Brandao is reaching back a little further in the past to channel his image on Saturday.

“My game plan is the same as Mike Tyson’s: get the knockout,” said Brandao, in a recent interview with the Brazilian news outlet Tatame. “Trading punches for 15 minutes is dangerous. When the cage is closed, we’ll strike. I’m cracking skulls, I don’t know about him.”

Elkins (13-2) will provide a stiff challenge, as he has won his last two UFC fights since a defeat to Charles Oliveira. He owns four KO victories and five more via submission.
