Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez dominated Antonio Silva in the co-main event of UFC 146: Dos Santos vs. Mir.
Now, he will receive a rematch with UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos as announced by UFC president Dana White during the post-fight show on FUEL TV Saturday night. White said they have not thought about where the fight would take place when asked about the possibility of it being hosted in a stadium arena thanks to the large following both fighters have.
“Yeah, that’s what’s next,” White said. “Cain was the undefeated champion, and he gets another shot at Junior.”
Velasquez and dos Santos met last November, with “Cigano” registering a first round victory and securing the belt. JDS defended the title against Frank Mir Saturday evening in Las Vegas.
Both Velasquez and dos Santos were hampered by injuries in their first fight, leaving many to feel like a rematch could be epic.
