Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall will, hopefully, settle the score this coming Friday night when they meet in the main event of UFC on FX 3. After a scoring error led to the first meeting being ruled a draw, the two will fight again to determine a challenger to Joseph Benavidez for the vacant UFC flyweight title.
Johnson, who had originally been awarded the victory, has set forth a new plan of attack in dealing with McCall this time around, as he told MMA Fighting’s The MMA Hour recently.
“This time around I haven’t been thinking about Ian McCall at all,” Johnson said. “Last time I thought about him all the time. Right now, I’m in a better place for some reason. I don’t know why, maybe because my training camp’s went so well so far. I’m ready to fight him again.”
“Mighty Mouse” made changes to both his diet and his training, “which were what caused me to slow down, my gassing, last time out. This time I really feel good and I can’t wait to get in there.”
While in the midst of his training camp, Johnson took a trip to Hawaii to marry his long-time girlfriend, Destiny.
“My wife is very supportive,” Johnson said. “We had already decided, if a fight falls on the marriage time, we’ll just train through it. We went to Hawaii, it worked out pretty well.”
