Demetrious Johnson finally gave Joseph Benavidez an opponent in the finals of the UFC flyweight tournament, defeating Ian McCall recently.

Johnson, who won the first match with McCall before a scoring error was found, and Benavidez are hoping to compete against one another sooner rather than later to crown the first-ever UFC flyweight champion.

“Mighty Mouse” offered up his thoughts on the McCall fight, along with Benavidez, in a recent post-fight interview with the UFC.

I made a couple of mistakes, but I was able to get back to my feet where I’m strong, keep my balance, and let my hands go. I listen to my coaches. That’s really the improvement. Me being a good student and listening to my coaches.

As for Benavidez, Johnson said, “I’ve got a lot of work to do, and I’ve just got to get ready for Joseph.”
